When I was on active duty with the Army Reserve, I served in staff positions, meaning I worked in an office, stared at a computer all day, sent and read emails, made and received phone calls, worked on slide and spreadsheets…..and went to meetings. A LOT of meetings. It was drudgery.

When I got off active duty and I couldn’t find a job I felt I was qualified for, despite having a Master’s Degree from Duquesne University and a Secret security clearance, I tried other things that DIDN”T require sitting in front of a computer and I also liked working with my hands. I worked on helicopters in the Marine Corps, industrial maintenance after the Corps and even had my own outdoor furniture business, so becoming a handyman was a natural fit….and I like helping people. Believe it or not, I was NEVER complimented on my slides or spreadsheets during a meeting. Now, I help people everyday that are grateful for the help.
